Long time no speak! I took a little (well not so little) break from blogging for the last few months as I’ve just been so busy but it’s a new year and I’m back and excited for the year ahead.
I thought for my first post of 2018 I would do a reflection on my ‘Hopes for 2017’ post and see if I achieved any of them.
My first hope for 2017 was to past my driving test and I can happily say that on January 31st I passed my driving test and got my full license. The happiness I felt that day is something I’ll never forget.
As I mentioned in my post last year, in 2015 I started taking medication for my depression and anxiety. I was taking them on and off for the last few months of 2016 and from the beginning of 2017 I completely came off them. I really hoped to gain the strength within myself in 2017 to no longer be dependant on them and stop taking them completely and I couldn’t be happier that I did it. This was such a personal milestone for me and one I am glad to have passed.
My third hope for the year was to strive towards becoming a qualified Make Up Artist and I am now finally on the way to doing that. In August I left my job in England and moved home to Dublin to start college and pursue my passion. I’m now a couple of months in to my course and loving every minute of it. I’m learning so much and developing so many skills. If you want to join me on my journey and see the looks I’m creating in (and out!) of college please follow my Facebook Page and Instagram! At the moment I’m starting plans for my final character for my exams in March and I can’t wait!!
Finally I had a couple of goals to do with my blog for 2017. Firstly I wanted to hit 100 followers which seemed so far out of reach as I only began my blog on wordpress towards the end of 2016. I now have over 170 followers and I can’t quite believe it. I know it seems small to most people but each little target is a stepping stone to something more. At the end of 2016 I had 15,000 overall page views and I had aimed to hit 25,000 by the end of 2017. Considering I took a 6 month break I’m pretty happy to have reached over 20,000. Maybe 2018 will be the year I hit 25k!
2017 was a bit of a rollercoaster for me. I went from living in London, working as an Au Pair and living near my closest friends, to packing up my life there and completely starting fresh at home in Dublin. I was absolutely terrified at the time but I think it’s one of the best things I could have done for myself. I’m coming into 2018 in a much better place mentally and I’m really excited to see what this year holds.
I hope you all had a great christmas and New Years and that 2018 brings you everything you hope for.
